    OPENCORES: update

    New partner for OpenCores

From the 1st of November OpenCores will be maintained by ORSoC. ORSoC fully embrace the idea of free open source hardware IPs. We have therefore decided to accept the mission to maintain OpenCores in order to make sure the site continues to supply the world with free hardware IPs. ORSoC will also ensure that OpenCores continue to grow. We have the intention to improve the site and hope the changes will satisfy all the skilled developers involved in the OpenCores community.

As we mentioned, there will be some changes to the site. One thing will however NEVER change – The IP will always be free, open source and available for anyone to download and use, under a valid license (preferable LGPL). We believe that open source methodology is the best way to develop and verify hardware.

    Changes
The people behind ORSoC have worked closely with OpenCores for a long period of time and we think the site is excellent. However, in order to take OpenCores to the next level, some improvements are needed. The foundation to our ideas of changes is to generate an even better platform for engineers, to develop, use, and verify existing/new IPs.
ORSoC will assign dedicated resources, only working with OpenCores (development, moderation, respond of emails, etc). We are also searching for advertisers in order to assign more dedicated resources to OpenCores.

    Contribute with your opinion
The developers/visitors of OpenCores are its most valuable resources. We certainly hope that you will give us your feedback/input so together we can turn OpenCores into the ultimate site/organization for open source IP. Email your comments to webmaster@o.... Hopefully we can have a fruitful discussion.

    ORSoC
ORSoC is a Swedish company located in Stockholm. The company has been in operation for almost 3 years now, however the people behind ORSoC have been working with OpenCores since its inception in 1999.
ORSoC is working mainly as a consultant company within FPGA- and ASIC design. During the last years we have noticed a huge increased interest for the great benefit of open source hardware IP.

    Finally
I certainly hope you all will continue to contribute to OpenCores and that together we will take OpenCores to a higher level than today.

    /The ORSoC Team
