Subject: [oc] External processor interface to Wishbone/AMBA FPGA Devices?
    Top
    Hello,

maybe this is a stupid question, but what is needed to connect an external
processor like the Blackfin BF532 to a ethernet MAC like the opencore MAC
with wishbone interface or the Leon GRETH with AMBA interface? Has this
been done before? Perhaps code even available?

    Background:
There are nice uC Linux boards out there like the Blackfin One (BFONE). With
all parts at least in 0.5mm pitch QFP, they are solderable for advanced
amateurs. However the BF532 is low on devices, like no ethernet MAC or CAN
Controller. For the MAC, the BFONE uses the DM9000 non-pci ethernet
mac. However the part is hard to get and needs a lot of wiring. Putting the
MAC in an FPGA and using a more readily available phys chip would be
compelling. The FPGA could provide other functionallity too. uclinux code
for the GRETH is also already available.

    Thanks
