Subject: [oc] What SoC / cores for Spartan3E starter kit
    Top
    Hello all,

I'm very new to FPGAs, but have recently started playing with the
above board as a means to an end.

Basically I need to implement an add-on to an ARM7 that will provide
DDR ram, extra UARTS, SPI busses, LCD controller etc, and the
Spartan3E starter kit looked like a good option for getting started.

I was hoping to use the Wishbone interface to link everything together
internally, and convert the Xilinx Mig1.6 DDR code for the starter kit to
    include this interface.

However, to do this, I need some way of testing, and it's going to be
near imposible to wire our ARM7 dev board to the Spartan3.

So what I'm after is a SOC build for the Spartan3 that includes a CPU
core capable of running C (or some other high level language) so I can
test out the DDR interface etc before we go ahead with our final
hardware.. Speed is not a problem, just need to do basic memory tests
really and maybe a few simple tasks via the serial / spi ports.

Once I have this working, I can concentrate on a ARM7 to wishbone
interface (I notice one is already up for a 68k) and hopefully get
    everything working!

Any ideas?? So far I've been working through the FPGA4Fun site, and
have got the spoc core running my own little programs, but still
struggling to get a lot of the code on opencores.org up and running.
