    I know this isn't the answer to the question that you asked. But on
    the off chance that you weren't aware.

    Xilinx ISE 7.1 Webpack was just released with native Linux support
    enabled. The selection of devices has also been significantly
    expanded.

    Unless you need support for a very large device, or you specifically
    require ISE6.1, I would recommend downloading this and trying it out.
