    HI Rudolph & Gunnar Dahlgren,

Thank you very much for your suggestions.
AC97, SPDIF, I2S are the Audio data transfer standards/ formats that I need to support in hardware. After selecting one of these, we probably need to support a 6-channel simultaneous transfer, for 5.1 Surround. That is, if we choose, say, AC97, we should have three instances of the same core, so as to get 3x2=6 channels for the Surround std. Selecting a DAC (Codec) and interfacing with it would be another issue to be taken up. [Please correct me if you find me wrong any where.]

I need more info on the 6-channel transfer of data, as regards to the phase-relationship, relative-volume of the six channels. So far, the only base for my knowledge on 5.1surround has been the paper I named in my earlier mail, which can be accessed at: attachment.htm
