I 've been recently using Actel FPGAs,

    proASIC plus (flash based technology),

they might be same level of price but the overall FPGA
    sub-system costs less,
    -live @ power up,
    -no EPROM required,
    -no 2A power up spike,
-Firm Error Immune (configuration upset due to heavy
    particles)
-real ambient temp range and not junction one

I've heard that they are gonna launch a new flash
family in jan04 bigger and even cheaper than Cyclon &
    Spartan3
