Subject: [oc] Made In India OLPC With OpenCores SOC
    Top
Last year Indian government rejected OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) project. OLPC project had problems with rising components price. Mr Walter Bender (OLPC) said that future OLPC will use non x86 CPU. What about OLPC with all-in-one, system-on-chip based on design from OpenCores?

The SOC can be mass manufactured by India Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ISMC) or other IC Fab in India. There are several LCD manufacturer in India such as Deepakshi, Videocon, Wintek etc.

IMO Indian government will accept this OLPC because the products are made in India. This OLPC can be exported to other countries.

    Is this idea possible?
    Thank you.
