Subject: [oc] Looking for a complete MP3 core to test
I've looked at doing something similar. I don't know that it's going to be cheaper/easier to do the MP3 decoding in a core vs. using an external decoder like one of the Micronas parts. For a commercial product, I believe that there are licensing issues that are sidestepped if you use a part from a manufacturer thats been licensed by Fraunhofer.
For generating a NTSC/PAL display, I've looked at using a video encoder such as the Analog Devices AD7171 or Philips SAA7103 attached to the FPGA.
